Advancing Climate-Friendly Energy Solutions
This initiative aims to promote the adoption of climate-friendly energy solutions in partner countries by supporting decarbonisation projects in industries such as textiles and manufacturing. It seeks to facilitate market access for German and European small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) offering renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Key activities include developing technically and economically viable energy projects, strengthening local business-partner networks, providing risk assessments, and boosting awareness among decision-makers in industry about clean energy alternatives.
Five-Axis Transformation via the GIZ PDP Energy Project
Data: The programme collects data from energy consumers in partner countries, performs technical and economic assessments of renewable energy and efficiency opportunities, and uses this to inform project design and implementation.
Capacity Building / Technical Assistance: GIZ offers training, advisory services, and risk-analysis to local firms, helps them understand new technologies, and supports partnerships with European suppliers. It also facilitates business initiation for companies entering new markets.
Technology / Machinery: The project identifies and helps deploy renewable energy technologies and energy-efficient machinery appropriate to local contexts—such as solar, efficient motors or processes—to reduce fossil fuel dependency.
Finance: It helps de-risk investments by offering feasibility studies, connecting local companies with European energy technology suppliers, and improving information about financial risks to attract investment.
Policy: The initiative engages with local and national authorities to advise on regulatory frameworks, market conditions, and policies that foster adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency, improving enabling environments for sustainable industrial energy practices.
Strategic Impact & Value Proposition
Climate Mitigation: By promoting clean energy and energy efficiency in industrial settings, the project contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.
Economic Opportunities: It opens up opportunities for SMEs—both local and European—to collaborate, enter new markets, and supply climate-friendly solutions, potentially stimulating jobs and innovation.
Industrial Resilience: Industries that move towards more reliable and renewable energy supplies are less vulnerable to energy price volatility and supply disruptions.
Knowledge Transfer and Local Capacity: Through training, risk assessment, and business matchmaking, the project builds local capabilities to sustain and scale up clean energy interventions.
Policy & Systemic Change: By helping shape policy and market incentive structures, the initiative aims for long-term transformation of energy use in industrial sectors, not just one-off projects.
