CIRCO Hub Bangladesh: Advancing Circular Business Innovation in the Textile and RMG Sectors
CIRCO Hub Bangladesh is a collaborative initiative designed to accelerate the transition from linear to circular production models across Bangladesh’s ready-made garments (RMG), textile, and adjacent industries. As part of a global CIRCO network, the Hub introduces internationally recognised circular design methodologies and scientific approaches that enable companies to rethink products, processes, and business models for sustainability and competitiveness. Supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and facilitated locally with technical expertise from CIRCO International, the initiative aims to strengthen circular business innovation and ecosystem collaboration.
Five-Axis Transformation via CIRCO Hub Bangladesh
Data
The Hub promotes evidence-based circular transformation by encouraging companies to assess material flows, waste streams, and product life cycles. Through structured training tracks, participating firms generate insights on resource efficiency and circular opportunities, helping organisations identify viable pathways for reducing waste and improving environmental performance.
Capacity Building / Technical Assistance
CIRCO Hub Bangladesh delivers specialised circular capacity-building programmes that guide companies through circular design thinking, business model innovation, and implementation planning. The initiative also develops local trainers and circularity ambassadors, strengthening institutional knowledge and ensuring long-term, locally led delivery of circular innovation support across industries.
Technology / Machinery
While primarily focused on business model innovation, the Hub indirectly promotes adoption of cleaner technologies and resource-efficient production solutions. By enabling companies to redesign products and processes through circular principles, it encourages the integration of recycling, reuse, and sustainable material technologies within manufacturing operations.
Finance
The initiative contributes to improved financial resilience by helping businesses identify cost savings from resource efficiency, waste reduction, and innovative circular business models. By positioning circularity as a value-creation strategy, the Hub supports firms in enhancing market competitiveness and unlocking investment aligned with sustainability objectives.
Policy
CIRCO Hub Bangladesh supports broader ecosystem alignment by fostering dialogue among industry actors, development partners, and policymakers on circular economy adoption. The initiative contributes to shaping industry narratives around circular production and strengthens advocacy for policy frameworks that incentivise sustainable manufacturing practices.
Strategic Impact & Value Proposition
Enhanced Circular Competence in Industry
Participating firms gain practical knowledge and tools to redesign products and processes, enabling them to operationalise circular principles and build internal expertise.
Improved Environmental Performance
By promoting resource efficiency, waste reduction, and reuse strategies, the initiative supports measurable environmental improvements across textile and RMG value chains.
Strengthened Industry Competitiveness
Circular innovation enables companies to respond to evolving buyer expectations and global sustainability standards, reinforcing Bangladesh’s position in responsible manufacturing.
Ecosystem Development and Systems Change
Through multi-stakeholder collaboration and the creation of circularity ambassadors, CIRCO Hub Bangladesh contributes to a growing national ecosystem that advances circular economy practices, policy dialogue, and long-term industrial transformation.
