Circular Fashion Partnership

The Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) is a cross-sectoral initiative led by Global Fashion Agenda, aimed at achieving a long-term, just, and scalable transition to a circular fashion system. The project focuses on developing effective circular fashion systems in textile, garment, and footwear manufacturing regions by capturing and recycling post-industrial fashion waste. The partnership seeks solutions to maintain the highest possible value output, following a waste hierarchy approach, and ultimately aims to accelerate textile-to-textile recycling to reintroduce ‘waste’ materials back into fashion products.

Five‑Axis Transformation via Circular Fashion Partnership

Data: The project employs digital platforms to trace and segregate textile waste, facilitating efficient recycling processes and ensuring transparency across the supply chain.

Capacity Building / Technical Assistance: CFP provides training and resources to stakeholders, including manufacturers, recyclers, and brands, to enhance their capabilities in implementing circular practices and adopting sustainable technologies.

Technology / Machinery: The initiative promotes the adoption of advanced recycling technologies and machinery that enable the transformation of post-industrial textile waste into high-quality recycled fibers, thereby reducing dependency on virgin materials.

Finance: CFP explores financial mechanisms and partnerships to support the scaling of circular practices, ensuring that stakeholders have access to the necessary resources to invest in sustainable solutions.

Policy: The project advocates for the development and implementation of policies that support circular economy practices, aiming to create a conducive environment for sustainable growth in the fashion industry.

Strategic Impact & Value Proposition

Environmental Sustainability: By promoting the recycling of textile waste, CFP contributes to reducing the environmental impact of the fashion industry, conserving natural resources, and minimizing waste.

Economic Growth: The initiative stimulates economic growth by creating new business opportunities in the recycling sector, enhancing the value chain, and fostering innovation in sustainable practices.

Social Equity: CFP emphasizes the importance of a just transition, ensuring that the benefits of circular practices are equitably distributed among all stakeholders, including workers and local communities.

Scalability: The project’s success in countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Indonesia serves as a model for other regions, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of transitioning to a circular fashion system.

Industry Collaboration: CFP fosters collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including brands, manufacturers, recyclers, and policymakers, to collectively address the challenges and opportunities of circularity in the fashion industry.
