Strengthening Loss and Damage Response Capacity (STRENGTH Project)
The STRENGTH project addresses knowledge and capacity gaps in vulnerable countries of the Global South to develop country-level Loss and Damage (L&D) policies and implementation mechanisms. Led by ICCCAD and partners, it provides technical support, research, and networking to strengthen responses to climate impacts.
Main Areas of Focus
Policy Development: Assistance helps countries design national L&D frameworks.
Capacity Support: Training builds skills for planning and implementation.
Knowledge Generation: Research fills critical evidence gaps on loss and damage.
South-South Exchange: Collaboration enhances peer learning among vulnerable states.
Strategic Impact and Value
Closing Gaps: Countries gain tools to respond effectively to climate losses.
Enhancing Readiness: National systems are better prepared to access climate finance.
Supporting Justice: L&D responses strengthen equity for climate-affected populations.
Strengthening Global Voice: Vulnerable countries influence international policy debates.
