| BYETS: Building Youth Employability through Skills for Inclusive Income Generation Building Youth Employability through Skills (BYETS) is a skills development initiative designed to empower young people in Bangladesh by strengthening their technical, employability and entrepreneurial capabilities. The project connects youth to income-generating opportunities, including formal jobs, apprenticeships and self-employment pathways. By working with Training Service Providers, government institutions, industry actors and employers, BYETS aims to create a more responsive skills ecosystem that better aligns training provision with labour market demand. Five-Axis Transformation via BYETS Data The project uses labour market insights, youth needs assessments and employer feedback to identify priority skills gaps and employment opportunities. Data on training completion, job placement, self-employment outcomes and income generation helps track progress and improve programme design. Capacity Building / Technical Assistance BYETS strengthens the capacity of Training Service Providers to deliver market-relevant training aligned with employer needs. It equips young people with technical skills, soft skills, workplace readiness, entrepreneurship knowledge and practical exposure through industry linkages, apprenticeships and job-matching support. Technology / Machinery The initiative promotes practical, occupation-specific training that may include the use of industry-relevant tools, machinery and digital learning approaches. By improving exposure to workplace technologies and production practices, the programme helps trainees become better prepared for real labour market requirements. Finance While BYETS is not primarily a financing programme, it supports economic inclusion by connecting youth to jobs, self-employment and enterprise opportunities. Entrepreneurship training and business development support help participants explore income-generating activities and improve their ability to manage livelihoods sustainably. Policy The project works with government, industry and employers to strengthen coordination within the skills development ecosystem. By improving collaboration between training institutions and labour market actors, BYETS contributes to more responsive skills policies and employment pathways for young people. Strategic Impact & Value Proposition Improved Employability of Young People Participants gain market-relevant technical and soft skills, increasing their readiness for wage employment, apprenticeships and self-employment. Stronger Linkages between Training and Industry By engaging employers and industry stakeholders, the project ensures that training content reflects real workplace needs and improves the likelihood of job placement. Expanded Income-Generating Opportunities BYETS supports youth in accessing employment and entrepreneurship pathways, helping them improve income security and economic resilience. Enhanced Capacity of Training Providers Training Service Providers become better equipped to deliver demand-driven, quality training that responds to evolving labour market requirements.
