Preparing the Apparel Sector through ATTI National Chapters: Data, Capacity, Tech, Finance, and Policy

The International Apparel Federation (IAF), a global federation that unites apparel manufacturing associations and companies across more than 40 countries—representing over 100,000 companies and more than 20 million employees facilitates the establishment of ATTI (Apparel, Textile, and Technology Initiative) National Chapters within its membership framework

Each IAF member association via its ATTI National Chapter develops a tailored Industry Transformation Plan that addresses five critical areas as they relate to climate and environmental sustainability:

– Data

– Capacity building / Technical assistance

– Technology / Machinery

– Finance

– Policy

These Localization-driven Transformation Plans allow individual national associations to align strategies and actions with their unique domestic industry contexts while advancing environmental goals across the global supply chain.

Five-Axis Transformation through ATTI: Empowering National Apparel Initiatives

In response to the evolving demands of environmental sustainability, the ATTI National Chapters are structured around five interlinked dimensions:

1. Data – Leveraging information and insights to benchmark and track environmental performance.

2. Capacity building / Technical assistance – Building knowledge, training, and support systems to strengthen sustainability practices.

3. Technology / Machinery – Driving modernization and reducing environmental impact through improved tools and systems.

4. Finance – Mobilizing investment and designing financial mechanisms to support green transformation.

5. Policy – Advocating for enabling regulatory frameworks and incentives aligned with environmental and climate goals.

By embedding these five pillars into localized transformation strategies, ATTI National Chapters promote sustainable, data-informed, technologically enabled, financially supported, and policy-backed industry transitions within the apparel sector globally.
